Spanish women’s fight against rural depopulation
Ana Valiente + Álvaro García Ruiz
According to the UN, two thirds of the world’s population will be living in urban areas by 2050. Europe is no exception. Empty Europe is a project led by six journalists who travelled to the most depopulated regions in France, Spain and Italy. Their goal? Report on the lives of young people who have resisted this rural flight and understand how they are keeping these regions alive, what challenges they face and what their futures will bring.
